Can you earn residual income without selling products

Yes. You can earn residual income by delivering a service that clients keep paying for because it keeps working for them. No products required. The residual comes from the ongoing value, not the shelf.

I sort residual income into four buckets. Real estate, retirement accounts, royalties, and expense reduction. The first three have a problem. The client gets paid once, or the account grows on its own, or the song streams without you. But none of those deliver fresh value to somebody else every single month. Expense reduction is different. A business owner saves money this month and next month and the month after that. That is why I call it the only real residual.

I learned this the hard way. I used to think any recurring check was the same as any other. I was wrong. The test I use now is simple. Would the client ever want to leave? If a service keeps cutting someone's costs, they have no reason to walk away. That is the anchor. Work once, get paid continually. That is not a slogan. It is the structure.

So if you want residual income without products, find a service that solves a problem that never goes away. Cost is a problem that never goes away for any business. You do not need inventory. You do not need a warehouse. You need to be positioned on the solution side of a problem people already have and are already paying for.
